Part of the Exploring Careers series, this book
discusses the various kinds of librarians and the
training necessary for a library career. It's
geared towards kids in grades 4 through 6.
"...a properly enticing, wide-angled look at what librarians do and the many kinds of libraries in which they do it. Underwood weaves discussions of educational requirements and career opportunities around a series of interviews with working public, school, academic, and special librarians that focus on each job's challenges and rewards...This makes a good choice for most collections."

Writing this book let me fulfill a long-time dream:
I got to visit George Lucas's Skywalker Ranch in
Marin County. When I learned that the ranch has a
library, I figured this book gave me the perfect
excuse to try to get permission to visit! The
library is beautiful, with a sweeping staircase and
a gorgeous stained glass dome. You can see a
picture of it about halfway down on this page.
