School Visits

I really enjoy visiting elementary schools! Since I write both fiction and nonfiction, I can share nonfiction research tips with kids as well as help them understand how a book comes together.

Presentations can be tailored to your needs, but may include:

- Why I became a writer, and a look at my very first book, written in fourth grade
- Cool nonfiction facts I've learned while writing my books
- An interactive game where the kids and I write a story together
- Research for fiction stories--who needs it? (lots of writers!)
- Interactive reading of one of my books (for younger kids)
- How a book is made: one book's journey (idea, drafts, critiques, more drafts, still more drafts, sketches, galleys, and FINALLY the finished book)

Please contact me for rate information. I look forward to visiting your school!

What People Are Saying:

"I have had nothing but raves about your visit. In fact, a 4th grade GATE teacher summed it up quite nicely when she said, 'I loved the author. She could NOT have been any better.'" - Sandy Pattison, Davis School Librarian

"You were awesome!  I haven't seen anyone engage the kids so completely." - Judy Wheeler, Towne Center Books, Pleasanton
